REVIEW: TWISTED LONDON VEGAN JUNK FOOD GOODNESS

A couple of weeks ago I was kindly invited to try out Twisted London’s new vegan menu. I had never even heard of Twisted London before, so I was very intrigued to see what it was all about.

A quick google told me that Twisted London are a fast food place, specialising in chicken burgers. I mean, it doesn’t sound very vegan friendly, until I scrolled down and found the vegan menu and OH BOY I had hit the jackpot.

Twisted currently have four vegan items on their menu, delivering to both London and Leeds (just check if it's available in your area). I was extremely excited to test it out, as upon investigation it looked amazing.

Twisted are currently delivering only from Absurd Bird in Trinity Kitchen but as they invited me to try out their menu, I was able to head down to the restaurant with my friend to test it out.

We arrived at around 5pm and were greeted by the lovely guys from Absurd. We were handed a laptop and told we could order whatever we wanted. Me and my friend were a bit overwhelmed and seeing as I had already eaten a three-course meal at The Ivy that day (which you can read all about here), I did not know where to start.

We decided to order the KFV burger, the vegan dirty fries and the demon wings. They also had another option, the hot vegan burger, which I did not get to try, but I can say from the photos it looked great.

My friend and I took a seat and patiently waited for our food to arrive.

The food arrived in take-out boxes, so we got to experience what it would usually look like if we had ordered it from home. It was very nicely presented, and we could not wait to get stuck in.

We opened up the boxes and were overwhelmed. First of all, the portion sizes are HUGE. You definitely get a really good value for money here. I was just glad I decided to bring a friend else my body might have collapsed on me.

The first thing we decided to try were the dirty fries. These came with seitan nuggets, pickled jalapeños and they were all lathered in vegan mayo and BBQ sauce.

They tasted INSANE and I now refuse to eat fries that do not have seitan nuggets in. They were also really generous with the sauce, so there were no concerns with the chips to sauce ratio.

Next, we delved into the demon wings. These were huge pieces of seitan covered in hot sauce. You get six pieces (!!) with each order.

I love seitan, but I have to say I really struggled to eat just one of these. They were so chunky and a little sickly. They still tasted incredible and I really really enjoyed them, however, I have no idea how anyone would be able to tackle six of these. Really good value for money though.

Our final meal was the KFV burger and I can definitely say we saved the best until last.

This burger was INCREDIBLE and one of the best vegan burgers I have ever tasted, (coming shortly after the vegan burger at Patty Smith’s, love u). It was savoury yet sweet and UGH just so delicious. It tasted to much like a McDonald’s mayo chicken, but soooooo much better. I would definitely order this again.

My friend and I did our best to finish all the food but did end up leaving a couple of seitan wings and some fries, (which I did take home to my hungry housemates).

Overall, I do not have a bad word to say about the Twisted London vegan menu. If you like seitan, then this is your absolute dream. You can try out the Twisted London vegan menu for yourselves, available on UberEats in London and Leeds. You will not regret it.

Until next time,

Emma xx
